What is Loss Cooldown?
The Loss Cooldown feature encourages a disciplined approach following adverse trading periods. When activated, this feature implements a programmed pause in trading activity, preventing rapid, emotionally driven re-entry into volatile conditions. This systematic pause is designed to give users time to review market conditions and reassess their strategy before resuming automated trading.
How Does It Work?
After two or more consecutive losing trades, the bot enters a configurable cooldown period during which it will not open new positions. During this window, the bot continues to monitor market data and calculate indicators, but does not execute buy orders. Once the cooldown period expires, the bot resumes normal trading activity. The duration of the pause is fully configurable in your bot settings.
Using It in BitThor
Enable Loss Cooldown from the bot configuration page. The feature activates automatically when consecutive losses are detected. You can adjust the cooldown duration to match your trading style — shorter pauses for active strategies, longer pauses for conservative approaches.
Tips for Beginners
-
A longer cooldown period gives markets more time to stabilize but reduces trading frequency.
-
Monitor your session logs to see when cooldowns activate and whether market conditions improved during the pause.
-
A cooldown period is a procedural pause, not a predictive indicator of market reversal or profit realization. Trading involves significant risk.
